Abstract:
In order to overcome the shortcomings of high brittleness of ceramic materials, self-propagating high temperature synthesis(SHS) was used to achieve the preparation of(TiC-TiB
2)-Ni composite ceramics and its synchronous diffusion connection with Ti plate, and a TiAl transition layer in the middle was used during the connection. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) was used to observe the morphology of the specimen’s connection interfaces and the shear fracture. The hardness and shear strength were used to characterize the mechanical properties of the connection interfaces. The test results show that using TiAl metal compounds as the transition layer, the(TiC-TiB
2)-Ni composite ceramics can be effectively connected with the Ti plate, and the total width of the connection layer is about 1100 μm. The presence of TiAl metal compound makes the hardness transition of the connection interface smoothly. Under the current of 1500 A and auxiliary pressure of 60 MPa, the shear strength of the connection joint can reach 85.87 MPa.
