Abstract:
The hot-extruded interface between Ni-based powder metallurgy superalloy FGH96 and 304 stainless steel(304SS) was investigated by optical microscope, scanning electron microscope and electron probe micro analysis, and the effect of 304SS coating on the surface microstructure of hot-extruded FGH96 alloy was studied. The results show that the interface between the two alloys is well bonded, seamless or hollow. A Ti C particle streamline with a size of about 500 nm is formed on the surface layer of FGH96 alloy. The formation of Ti C particles is closely related to the diffusion and reaction of Ti and C elements between the two metals. The diffusion of Ti element leads to the generation of a γ’-poor region and the gradient variation of the γ’ phase size from the interface to FGH96 alloy. In addition, the influence of 304SS coating on hot-extruded FGH96 alloy is small, and the abnormal microstructure area is just within a range of about 20 μm from the interface.
