Abstract:
WC particle reinforced TC4 composites were prepared by laser cladding technology. The effects of WC content on the microstructure of cross section, hardness and wear rate of the composite were investigated. The results indicate that with the increase of WC content, α-Ti solid solution, TiC, WC, W
2C and W elements gradually appear in the composite.When the WC content is 10wt%, the basket structure could still be observed. When WC content is 20wt%, the dendrite and columnar tic in the cladding layer are more uniform, the microstructure is densest, the hardness is highest, and the wear resistance is best. When the mass fraction of WC is 30%, the Ti C density is high, but more granular TiC appear, which can lead to the decrease of hardness and wear resistance of the coating.
