Abstract:
Vacuum brazing of pure Ti and pure Cu was achieved at 830 ℃ using Zr-Ti-Cu-Ni amorphous filler. The interfacial microstructure and mechanical properties of the joints were investigated using scanning electron microscopy and tensile test. The results show that when the holding time is 2 min, the joint microstructure is primarily composed of unreacted filler, Ti
2Cu and Ti Cu. When the holding time is 5 min, the joint structure is evolved into a multi-phase complex structure consisting of Ti
2Cu, Ti Cu and Cu
4Ti, etc. When the holding time is prolonged to 10 min, the microstructure of the joint is mainly composed of Ti Cu. When the holding time is 5 min, the tensile strength of the joint is the maximum of 147 MPa.
