Abstract:
Graphene-reinforced 6061 aluminum matrix composites with different Cu@rGo additions were prepared by spark plasma sintering (SPS).The effects of different Cu@rGo additions on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Cu@rGo/6061Al composites were discussed. The microhardness and tensile properties of the specimens were tested using a Vickers microhardness tester and an electronic universal testing machine. The microscopic morphologies of the fractures of the samples were observed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM).The results show that the addition of Cu@rGo significantly improves the yield strength and tensile strength of Cu@rGo/6061Al composites compared to the 6061 Al matrix. However, the elongation first increases and then decreases with the increase of Cu@rGo additions. The tensile fracture morphologies also show that with the increase of Cu@rGo additions, the tearing edges decreases, and the dimple structure gradually transitions from small and deep to large and shallow. It shows that the plasticity of the composites gradually deteriorates. The comprehensive analysis shows that when the Cu@rGo additions are 0.05wt% and 0.1wt%, the comprehensive properties of the Cu@rGo/6061Al composites are better, and the tensile strength and elongation are significantly improved compared with the 6061 aluminum alloy substrate.
