Abstract: Metal/polymer composite structure can meet the need of properties and engineering lightweight. Friction stir welding（FSW） and its derivative technologies have gained more and more attention in joining dissimilar materials due to its solid state properties. This paper summarized the friction stir welding technologies, microstructure, welding process and joining mechanism of metal/polymer FSW joints. Finally, the development of metal/polymer FSW were prospected.
