Abstract:
Using titanium as the upper plate and low carbon steel as the lower plate, the plates were joined by self-piercing riveting and hybrid connection technology of self-piercing riveting and resistance spot welding (SPR-RSW), respectively. The main geometric parameters and tensile shear properties of the two types of joints were compared and analyzed. The results show that the residual bottom thickness and rivet foot opening degree of the SPR-RSW joint are larger than those of the self-piercing riveting joint, especially in the case of welding with high current. Compared with the self-piercing riveting joint, the SPR-RSW joint welded at welding current of 6-10 kA has bigger tensile shear load, the maximum value is 6.71 kN, which increases by about 56%.
