Abstract:
As the effect of adding CeO
2 on the titanium-based/Ni-based clad layer on TC4 surface has been less studied in the past, a CeO
2/(70%Ni60A +30%TC4) composite clad layer was prepared on TC4 surface by coaxial laser feed powder cladding technique to solve the problem of low hardness and poor wear resistance of TC4 titanium alloy. The morphology and grain size of the clad layer were compared using optical microscopy and SEM, the phase composition of the clad layer was analyzed by XRD and EDS. The results show that the addition of CeO
2 inhibits the generation of cracks in the clad layer, and the clad layer is crack-free and has the best quality when the addition amount is 0.3%. When the addition amount is 0.3%, the organization is the finest. The microhardness of the clad layer is significantly higher than that of the substrate with the most significant effect, which is around 883 HV at 0.3% addition, which is about 3 times that of the substrate.
