Abstract:
Four groups of 5052 aluminum alloys with 0wt%-0.3wt% Sc content were prepared by vacuum melting method, followed by multi-pass rolling. The effects of Sc content on the microstructure and properties of 5052 aluminum alloy in large deformation processing were investigated by microstructure analysis, tensile property test and corrosion property test. The results show that the addition of 0.3 wt%Sc can increase the ultimate tensile strength of 5052 aluminum alloy in the rolled state from 354.5 MPa to 393.9 MPa. 5052 aluminum alloy containing Sc has good corrosion resistance in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution, which is attributed to the fact that the addition of Sc generates Al
3Sc particles in the Al matrix, and the Al
3Sc particles act as a non-homogeneous phase nucleus to make the grains finer, and the average grain size is reduced from 1.5 μm to 0.98μm, homogenizing the Al
3Fe phase, and reducing the grain boundary energy, the intragranular and grain boundary potentials are uniform and the intergranular corrosion tendency of the alloy is weaker, which improves the corrosion resistance of the alloy.
