Influence of Sectional Cold Pressing on Residual Stress of 7050 Aluminum Alloy T-shaped Forgings

    • The influence of sectional cold pressing on the quenching residual stress of 7050 aluminum alloy T-shaped forgings was studied by finite element method. The distribution of residual stress after cold pressing was analyzed, and the effect of friction coefficient on stress reduction was analyzed. The results show that quenching residual stress in the T-shaped forging present "external compression stress-internal tensile stress" distribution. The compressive stress of the rib site reaches-250 MPa,the tensile stress reaches 220 MPa; the compressive stress of the wing plate reaches-250 MPa, and the tensile stress reaches 210MPa. After cold pressing, the quenching residual stress is greatly reduced, the residual stress distribution in most regions of forgings is from-50MPa to 50 MPa. When the friction coefficient is 0.3, the average reduction rate of residual stress of forgings after cold compression is the highest, which reaches 63%; the mean and variance of the overall residual stress of T-shaped forgings are the smallest, and the overall stress distribution is more uniform.
