Preparation and Wear Behavior of CC/KMTBCr20 Composites

    • To solve the problem of poor interface bonding and easy exfoliation of composite layer under high impact, honeycomb structure steel cemented carbide(CC) and high chromium cast iron(KMTBCr20) were used to prepare composite materials. The microstructure of the composites and the wear properties of the composites were studied. The results show that, the transition layer of the composite consists of iron matrix, fish-bone iron-chromium carbide and M7C3. The dissolution of tungsten carbide at the boundary of cemented carbide during infiltration leads to decrease of the hardness in the enhanced region. The wear resistance of the composite material is 1.6 times than that of the matrix material. Among them, the wear mechanism of cemented carbide region is short range cutting and fatigue spalling, and the wear mechanism of matrix region is long range cutting and spalling caused by multiple plastic deformation.
