Abstract
A new composite (Cr,Mo)2(C,N) refiner powder was synthesized by carbothermal reduction nitridation method in flowing N2 atmosphere with Cr2O3, MoO3 and carbon black as raw materials. The effects of reaction temperature, holding time and Mo content on the preparation of (Cr,Mo)2 (C,N) refiner were studied by TG-DSC, XRD and SEM. The following conclusions are obtained: with the increase of temperature, the phase evolution follows the rule of (MoO3,Cr2O3) →(Cr2O3, Mo2C,Cr3C2)→(Cr,Mo)2(C,N); the crystallinity of (Cr,Mo)2(C,N) is improved and the particle size of (Cr,Mo)2(C,N) powder is increased with prolonging holding time; with the increase of Mo content, the cell volume of (Cr,Mo)2 (C,N) expands and the particle size decreases.
