Effect of Fe3Al Content on Properties of Copper-based Powders Metallurgy Friction Materials

    • Copper-based friction materials were prepared by powder metallurgy process. During the sintering process, there were two groups of experiments: no pressure and 0.5 MPa pressure. The effects of Fe3Al content on the friction and wear properties of copper-based powder metallurgy friction materials were studied. The results show that applying 0.5 MPa pressure during sintering can effectively improve the density and hardness of the material. The friction coefficient of the material is highest when the braking speed is 200 km/h, and the Fe3Al content is 6wt% at this time, and the Fe3Al content of the material that is not pressurized during the sintering process is 8wt%. With the increase of Fe3Al content, the mass wear of the material first increases, then decreases and then increases. When Fe3Al content is 10wt%, the mass wear is highest. Compared with the material without Fe3Al addition, the addition of Fe3Al can reduce the hardness of the material, improve the friction coefficient of the material and reduce the wear of the material.
